Hierdie ozzies is baie oulik. Neem ek hul kwalik? Nee, glad nie, ek kan sien hoekom hul so mal is oor hul land. Australie is “amazing”.
On Australia day, January 26, we come together as a nation to celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian. The public holiday is traditionally a time for backyard barbecues and cricket, for zinc-smeared noses and eskies filled with beer.
It’s also a time for looking at our achievements and celebrating our prospects, which is what the business community does when it gathers together for the annual Australia Day Lunch. This prestigious event and enjoy the best of Queensland produce and wines, a lively program of entertainment plus the announcement of the 2009 Australia Post Australia Legends Award. People will be celebrating all over Brisbane this year.
Celebrate Australia Day and dance the night away barefoot on the bowls green. This year the beach meets the burbs – the green will be covered in sand. If you are feeling active you can play lawn bowls, beach cricket or Barefoot Bowls. The B.U.M.S (Brisbane Ukulele Music Society), the Clifton Hillbillies and surf band ‘The Ripz’ will be on hand provide entertainment. There are prizes for best dressed and best feet. Great Aussie tucker available for everyone – what better way to spend Australia Day Eve?
